Christian Bibles are composed of Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek writings drawn from the Greek Bible known as the Septuagint and the Hebrew-Aramaic Tanakh. These writings were then regrouped under the name of the Old Testament. A third set of Christian Greek writings known as the New Testament was added to these. Various Christian groups have debated extensively on including or excluding some books from both testaments, giving rise to the concepts of apocryphal and deuterocanonical texts.

The current Jewish community uses the term "Christian Bible" to refer only to the books that have been added to the Hebrew-Aramaic Tanakh by late Hellenistic Alexandrian Judaism and later by Christianity. It avoids referring to its Tanakh using terms like Bible or Old Testament. Several Christian denominations include additional books in the canon of both Testaments.
